Differences Between the Plug Types of BOSE Flight Headsets
At Sky Fox you will find a wide range of pilot headsets from BOSE Aviation as well as various plug types. The main differences lie in the connectors used, which are optimized for different aircraft types and cockpit requirements.
The BOSE A30 Aviation Headset with PJ plugs (GA/Dual Plug) uses two separate connectors – one for audio (Phones) and one for the microphone (Mic). This connector type is ideal for general aviation and flight school aircraft and is powered by batteries (2×AA).
The BOSE A30 Aviation Headset with LEMO plug (6-pin) uses a six-pin round connector that receives its power directly from the aircraft panel – no batteries required. This plug type is common in modern aircraft (e.g. Cirrus, Beechcraft).
With the BOSE A30 Aviation Headset with XLR-5 plug you get a five-pin connector that provides audio and (depending on installation) also power via a single cable. XLR-5 is mainly used in airliner and business jet cockpits (e.g. Airbus, ATR).
The BOSE A30 Aviation Headset with U-174 plug is a single-pin round connector ideal for helicopters and rotorcraft intercom systems. Microphone and speaker signals run through the same connection; power is provided by 2×AA batteries.
